Those lame Emmys

What are final shovel in the pile on top o' the grave. No Emmy. And 24? Keifer has really got the mantle of this gen's Harrison Ford in the bag with his depth on that monotonous show.

I actually watch 24, but I was still kinda shocked to find that it beat out Six Feet Under. The last season, particularly the second half, was one of the best seasons of television I've ever seen. Also, Peter Krause showed more depth and acting talent in one episode than Kiefer did the entire season!

This is why I usually don't care to watch most award shows. It's all self-congratulatory publicity anyway.

Gave up on 24 after post-viewing the 1st season. It was cool, but then it was just more of the same incredulous cartoon characters. Shame all the dough goes to waste when you can have real qual acting/writing ans above all, subtlety, like Alan Ball's wk. Golden age of TV my arse, 24.

I haven't caught up on the last season of 6FU yet (no cable, we get from the long waiting list the public library) but from the few episodes of 24 I've seen, there's no way Alan Ball could have cratered the show badly enough to make its quality sink below the level of 24, which I found sort of interesting, but the story line gets old quickly with constantly rehashing the same thing in endless detail that just does not catch my interest at all. So I am totally with you on that. And like Mark's comment above, yes, the Emmys and all the other award shows are just masturbatory pablum for the A-list crowd and the weak minded hangers-on whose lives revolve around following their every fart and booger.
Here's a good example - authentic or not, who cares, but ... - some jerkwad is attempting to eBay off a gold plated dookie he claims is the first ever from Tom Cruise's kid. How fucked up is that??

        WHAT

six feet wasn't even nominated for best Drama! wtf? I was not surprised though. But I though Frances Conroy would get it for being the jewel of the show. What shocked me was there was not Lauren Ambrose on the Ballot. SFU went out with a bang of emotional glory.

I enjoy 24 for what it is- a saturday afternoon serial cliffhanger at it's best. And the 2nd half of the last season was arguably the best writing they've ever had. That said, it's still 2 dimensional and it's character studies suck. The show counts on cheezy emotional traps and ploys to keep you hooked in. It's simply campy and my television guilty pleasure. It in no way comes close to being in the same league as SFU. This makes the Emmies laughable to me and I'm a fan of both shows, having watched both loyaly from their first seasons.
